Development of Education through Artificial Intelligence

The University of Management “TISBI” held the International Scientific and Practical Conference dedicated to the 70th anniversary since the USSR (Russia) joined UNESCO and the run-up BRICS Summit in Kazan

There were more than 50 presentations made by the representatives from Algeria, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Burundi, India, China, Morocco, Namibia, Singapore, the Republic of Uzbekistan, South Africa, the Russian Federation and so on.  There were the participants from UNESCO headquarters, 70 regions of Russia, 20 UNESCO Chairs, 87 UNESCO ASPnet and 2 UNEVOC Centres.

The participants had an opportunity to share experience in enhancing the quality of education, Artificial Intelligence tools and methods. The successful use of AI in different educational institutions was presented. They showed the ways the algorithms could help in education as well as develop analytical skills of students.

At plenary session, the welcome speech was delivered by:

  • Fengchun Miao, Chief for Technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Education at Education Sector, UNESCO Headquarters, Paris;
  • Inga Nichanian, Coordinator of the UNESCO/UNITWIN Chairs Program, UNESCO Headquarters, Paris;
  • Ilsur Khadiullin, Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Tatarstan
  • Vladimir Filippov, President of the Patrice Lumumba Peoples' Friendship University of Russia, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor, Academician of the Russian Academy of Education;
  • Roza Akhmadieva, Rector of the Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Education ‘Kazan State Institute of Culture’, Academician-Secretary of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan, Corresponding Member of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor, Honored Scientist of the Republic of Tatarstan.

The organizers of the Conference were the Commission of the Russian Federation for UNESCO, Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Tatarstan, Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan, UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education (IITE, Moscow), National Coordinating Centre for the UNESCO Associated Schools Network in the Russian Federation, UNEVOC Centre of the University of Management “TISBI”, TISBI College, UNESCO Chair at the University of Management “TISBI”, UNESCO Chair of the Saint-Petersburg State University of Aerospace Instrumentation (Saint-Petersburg),  People’s Friendship University of Russia named after Patrice Lumumba (Moscow), Gymnasium No. 179 of Kazan.

Special emphasis is laid down on the value of traditional forms of education as being essential for developing student relationships with teachers and other students. And it must be keep in mind while we integrate AI in education. I hope that as the result of the Conference many practical recommendations will be suggested. Gained experience of interdisciplinary dialogue and exchange of best practices will help to solve the problems." Artificial Intelligence provides us with new horizons in education, offers innovative solutions to improve the efficiency of teaching and prepare future generations for a successful life in the digital world. At plenary the presentations were made by:

  • Airat Khasyanov, PhD, Vice-President of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan, Deputy Director of IT Park for Educational Activities, "Computational thinking";
  • Evgeny Bobrov , Vice-Rector, Head of the Department of Academic Policy and Organization of Educational Activities of ANO “Innopolis University”: “New Innopolis University Program AI: 360. Aims and Objectives”;
  • Elton Romeo Hart, Advocate, Law Clinic, University of Johannesburg, South Africa: “The Use of AI methods and tools in higher-educational institutions”;
  • Karim Errouaki, Professor, Dr., President of the International Advisory Committee CAFRAD - Pan-African Intergovernmental Organization Tangier, Morocco: “AI in Education: Advancing Learning and Equity in the Digital Era”.

The Conference was attended by the representatives of the Commission of the Russian Federation for UNESCO, Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Tatarstan, Ministry of Digitalization of Public administration, Information Technologies and Communications of the Republic of Tatarstan, Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan, UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education, nonprofit partnership “The Board of Directors of Secondary Vocational Educational Institutions of the Republic of Tatarstan”, rectors of leading foreign, national universities and universities of the Republic of Tatarstan, representatives of higher and secondary vocational education, academicians of Russia and the Republic of Tatarstan, representatives of enterprises.

The University of Management “TISBI” encourages the lifelong learning, that’s why the work of the Conference was organized by three levels o education.

The first discussion platform was dedicated to the use of AI in the UNESCO ASPnet.

The participants of the second discussion platform shared the experience of use of AI in secondary vocational education.

And the third one gathered together the representatives of the international UNESCO Chairs from Russia and abroad.

The participants of the Conference noted the high level of organization of the Conference and expressed gratitude to the administration of the University of Management “TISBI”, all the co-organizers of the event. They expressed a strong interest in further collaboration to develop education through AI.

The participants agreed that AI opens up new horizons for education, provides innovative approaches for effective and quality education. The resolution was adopted as the result of the event.
