Unesco 22 october 2023

During the meeting, the directors and coordinators of Volga region had an opportunity to share their experience.

There were the participants from St. Petersburg, Astrakhan, Nizhny Novgorod, Kazan, Samara, Saratov, Innopolis, etc. The event was dedicated to the 70th anniversary of UNESCO ASPnet.

Nella Pruss, the UNESCO ASPnet National Coordinator of the Russian Federation, congratulated all the participants highlighting this significance of the date.

The UNESCO ASPnet connects more than 12,000 schools in 182 countries. All activities of the Network are aligned with the 2030 Agenda and promote innovative and transformative education, sustainable development, inter-cultural and heritage learning.

Nella Pruss reminded that the international theme for 2023 World Teacher’s Day was Teachers for Quality Education: Addressing the Teacher Shortage.

Today the problem of teacher shortage is acute in the world. Neither countries’ leadership nor public authorities pay much attention to the teacher’s profession. Teacher is a main figure in the system of education; he/she plays a significant role in the life of a student. They not only teach, but also bring up the students. To my mind, the professions of a teacher and doctor are the most important in the society. Things are not easy for teachers early in their career. They get paid little for their work. It is also important that many people choose the profession of a teacher not by vocation. We need to change our attitude to the teachers in order to solve the problem. The UNESCO ASPnet also tries to solve this problem. Nella Pruss UNESCO ASPnet National Coordinator of the Russian Federation

Website for UNESCO ASPnet in the Russian Federation was launched this year. It’s a site for communication, sharing knowledge and experience, participation in activities. Today, 310 schools have been registered there. Among them 198 schools are the members of UNESCO ASPnet, 58 schools are candidates and 54 schools are applicants.

Ksenia Gaverdovskaya, a Senior Adviser of the Secretariat of the Russian Federation’s Commission for UNESCO of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation. She told about the new initiatives on the organization’s platforms and how to take part in them. During her presentation she noted that Volga region is one of the leading regions in the UNESCO ASPnet in the Russian Federation.

Tamara Fedorova, a Director of College “TISBI”, gave the detailed information about “Director of school” contest and encouraged participants to take part in it.

Following the results of the meeting, Nella Pruss pointed out that every school provides education and upbringing. But each of them must have their own peculiar feature- main theme or so-called red line to be dealt with seriously and scientifically. There are 68 UNESCO Chair at the Universities of Russia. She informed the participants that the system of collaboration between members of the UNESCO ASPnet and THE UNESCO Chairs was suggested. But not all of the members of the Network use this opportunity. Though there are a number of educational institutions that take the chance and show good results.
