The National Council of the UNESCO Associated Schools Project in the Russian Federation was held in Krasnodar, Nella Pruss, the rector of the University of Management “TISBI”, led the activity.
International cooperation is an important factor in political, social, spiritual and economic stability of countries and regions. It is assisted by UNESCO Associated Schools, which unites schools and universities across Russia for more than 65 years.
There are 378 certified UNESCO Associated Schools in Russia and 100 pending applications of schools, willing to become a part of this international project. Schools operate both at international and national levels, implementing the ideas and principles of UNESCO, deepening the humanist aspects of education, filling it with the idea of the culture of peace, tolerance, mutual understanding, intercultural communication, environmental protection, participation in the decision of the world’s problems.
The coordinators of “Center”, “Siberia-Altai”, “Moscow”, “Baltic-North”, “Sakha-Baikal”, “Ural”, “Volga”, “South-the Caucasus” regions as well as the representatives of UNESCO clubs were invited to take part in the work of the National Council. Good practices and initiatives and cooperation mechanisms with the UNESCO Chairs of Russia are discussed, reports are presented at this meeting.

It was agreed to hold the meeting of the National Council of the UNESCO ASPnet in Krasnodar because the Interschool Aesthetic Centre of Krasnodar, one of the members of the UNESCO ASPnet, has been functioning successfully for a long time. At present this center includes 34 educational institutions of the “South-Caucasus” region. Every year they keep on earning and deserving that recognition and set the goals: they organize activities and arrangements directed to upbringing a person with active life position in multinational communities.
The cultural program of the Interschool Aesthetic Centre was presented to the guests. The ensemble of the Kuban folk song “Kazachata”, the art studio “Uspekh” (Success), the chess club “Khod konem” (Knight’s move), the children's choral and symphony orchestras made an excellent impression and delighted everyone.
