Meeting of the Coordination Committee of UNESCO Chairs in the Russian Federation

The extraordinary session of the Coordination Committee of UNESCO Chairs in the Russian Federation was held at the University of Management “TISBI”.

The meeting was chaired by Grigory Ordzhonikidze, the Secretary-General of the Commission of the Russian Federation for UNESCO, Ambassador-at-Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation. Among the participants were Vladimir Egorov, the Chairman of the Coordination Committee of UNESCO in the Russian Federation,  Ksenia Gaverdovskaya, the Adviser of the Secretariat of the Commission of the Russian Federation for UNESCO, Oksana Novikova, the Executive Secretary of the Coordination Committee of UNESCO Chairs in the Russian Federation, Elina Gataullina, the Executive Director of the of UNESCO Bashkortostan Committee, Nella Pruss, the President of the University of Management “TISBI”, the Head of the International UNESCO Chair, Elvira Sadykova, the Executive Director of the UNESCO Chair, Elena Aleksandrova, the Director of the Institute of International and Regional Projects.

The meeting considered the applications for the establishment of UNESCO Chairs at Universities.

Each University presented its priority activities.

The establishment of UNESCO Chairs is one of the most significant items of Worldwide Plan of Interuniversity Cooperation and Academic Mobility which was approved during 26th session of General Conference of UNESCO in 1991. There are 67 UNESCO Chair at Russia. The first UNESCO Chair at the Republic of Tatarstan appeared in 1998 at TISBI.
