Online Meeting of the UNESCO Associated Schools Network

The Education Committee of Saint Petersburg held an online meeting with heads of educational organizations. There were about 50 participants at the event.

During the meeting the priorities for the UNESCO Associated Schools Project 2021 were discussed. Elena Vladimirskaya, the First Deputy Chairman of the Education Committee, noted that the status of UNESCO Associated School is significant and it is important to follow UNESCO’s interests and enhance networking.

Natalia Larionova, ASPnet Executive Director in the Russian Federation, described the way how to join the UNESCO Associated Schools Network.  Stanislav Babich, National Coordinator of the Baltic Sea Project (UNESCO), spoke about the possibilities for school establishments to participate in the international projects. The meeting discussed the involvement of UNESCO schools in the World Heritage projects.

As a result of the meeting, the participants agreed that pandemic provided new opportunities for interaction and new tools for communication. It was also stated that the activities of the UNESCO school should be aimed at creation of qualitative brand and status which will work for the benefit of the city and the country.
