Education is a link between science and technologies.

State policy on education and prospect for cooperation with UNESCO were discussed on World Science Day in Moscow.

The meeting took place with the participation of Valeriy Falkov, the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, Sergey Kravtsov, the Minister of Education, Stefania Giannini, the UNESCO Assistant Director-General for Education, Grigoriy Ordzhonikidze, Secretary-General of the Commission of the Russian Federation for UNESCO.

The core issue discussed at the meeting was the role of the UNESCO Chairs in the implementation of imperative of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). There are 67 UNESCO Chairs at the Universities of the Russian Federation.

The first International UNESCO Chair of the Republic of Tatarstan was established at the University of Management «TISBI» in 1998.

To date, the International UNESCO Chair at the University of Management «TISBI» remains the largest regional center for development of innovative educational programs and projects aimed at the implementation of a UNESCO mission. During the top-level negotiations, the achievement of SDG and the ability to ensure and enhance a high-quality and accessible education for all were discussed.

The results and achievements were discussed earlier at Meeting of the Coordinating Committee of UNESCO Chairs on Education for Sustainable Development which was chaired by the RUDN University Rector Vladimir Filippov. Nella Pruss, the Rector of the University of Management «TISBI», Head of the International UNESCO Chair, UNESCO ASPnet National Coordinator of the Russian Federation, took part in the work of the Committee.
