International Forum of the "UNESCO Associated Schools"

On November, 22-24 in Kazan on the basis of
the Academy of Management "TISBI" the International Forum
on the "UNESCO Associated Schools" Project (АSP) of the
CIS countries and the Baltic States took place
|
Secretaries-General of the national commissions for UNESCO
and national coordinators of the ASP from Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan,
Kirghizia, Moldova, Tajikistan, Estonia, Russian Federation took part
in it. The Russian regional coordinators of the UNESCO Associated Schools
from Saint Petersburg, Khanty-Mansiysk, Nizhni Tagil, Yakutsk, Reutov,
Kazan, Ufa, Novorossisk also participated in the Forum.
Organizers of the Forum are the Commission of the Russian
Federation for UNESCO, the government of the Republic of Tatarstan, the
Ministry for Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan, Committee of the Republic
of Tatarstan for UNESCO, the Academy of Management "TISBI" and
the International UNESCO Chair at "TISBI", as well as the Coordination
Center of the ASP-net in the Volga region.
Opening of the International Forum took place in the
Ministry for Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan.

Chairman of the Commission of the Russian Federation
for UNESCO, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey
Lavrov addressed to the organizers and the participants a greeting in
which he emphasized, that the UNESCO Associated Schools represent "the
effective mechanism on cooperation of educational institutions with the
purpose of development and introduction of innovational approaches and
techniques, an exchange of positive experience in education and bringing
children up".
Director of the UNESCO Bureau in Moscow, Director of
UNESCO Institute on Information Technologies in Education Dendev Badarch
told about the activity of the institute directed on improvement of professional
skill of teachers in the field of information and communication technologies
use.
Participants of the Forum were also welcomed by the Vice-Chairman
of the State Council of the Republic of Tatarstan Rimma Ratnikova.
The Executive Secretary of the Commission of the Russian
Federation for UNESCO Grigory Ordzhonikidze in his speech proposed
on development of cooperation within the framework of the ASP-net of the
CIS countries and the Baltic states.
The National Coordinator of the Russian Federation ASP-net
Tatyana Potjaeva reported on the activity of the Russian Associated
Schools and handed over certificates "UNESCO Associated school"
to the most active educational institutions of secondary education in
Russian regions.

During the Forum work on the basis of the Academy of
Management "TISBI" there were held sessions of the ASP-net National
Coordinators from the CIS countries and the Baltiсs. In their reports
representatives of Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kirghizia, Moldova,
Tajikistan, Estonia told about realization of the ASP, the basic directions
of the project activity in their countries and shared an operational experience
in the project.


Within the framework of the Forum there was also held
a National council of the Russian UNESCO Associated Schools Net with the
reports of the Regional Coordinators of the Russian ASP-net.
Nella Pruss - Rector of the Academy of Management
"TISBI", Chairholder of the International UNESCO Chair - was
charged as a new National Coordinator of the ASP-net for the Russian Federation.


The participants of the Forum made a note of its importance
for development of cooperation in the UNESCO Associated Schools project
of the CIS countries and the Baltics. They also expressed gratitude to
the organizers of the meeting for a high level of its running, and also
proposed a number of recommendations. Among them to create an international
co-coordinating committee consisting of the national coordinators of the
UNESCO ASP-net from the CIS countries and the Baltic States, which is
meant to adjust cooperation and network interaction between the UNESCO
associated schools and also to develop a joint strategy for their activity
according to UNESCO priorities and mainstreams.


Pupils of the Tatarstan's UNESCO Associated Schools and
students of the Academy of Management "TISBI" performed to the
guests of the Forum a bright concert.



In honour of the visitors the Vice to the Prime Minister
- Minister for Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan, Chairman of the Tatarstan
Republic Commission RT for UNESCO Zilya Valeeva made a reception in the
Great State Concert Hall named after Salikh Sajdashev. Winner of International,
Russian and Republican musical competitions Lada Labzina played organ
for the guests of the Forum.



Participants of the Forum also got acquainted with the
cultural heritage of the Tatarstan Republic and its capital, visited the
Raifa Monastery and State Historical and Architectural Ensemble "Kazan
Kremlin", which is in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Objects.
The Forum participants also took part in the International
Scientific Conference "Modern Regional Policy: Domestic and Foreign
Experience. Future trends", held in the Academy of Management "TISBI"
on November, 24-26.
