DELEGATION FROM THE MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF THE NETHERLANDS VISITS THE ACADEMY OF MANAGEMENT "TISBI"

On September 16, 2010 representatives of the Kingdom of the Netherlands Embassy in Moscow and the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands visited the Academy of Management "TISBI". The aim of the visit was to discuss in-between results of the international project implemented by the Academy of Management "TISBI" under the grant of the МАТRА program at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands.

The delegation consisted of Lidy Navis-Feenstra, Policy Advisor in the MATRA Program Department at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Hugo Brouwer, Second Secretary at the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Moscow, and Grigory Dempke, Expert of the MATRA Program (Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Moscow).

The visitors were received by the Rector of the Academy of Management "TISBI" Prof. Nella Pruss, who is the coordinator of the project in the Tatarstan Republic. Public prosecutor of the Tatarstan Republic Kafil Amirov also was in meeting.

Work on the joint Tatarstan-Netherlands project "Awareness Raising and Capacity Building for Protection of Cultural, Historic and Natural Heritage as a Part of Social Transformation in the Republic of Tatarstan, the Russian Federation" has been carried out at the Academy of Management "TISBI" since April, 2009.

The strategic partners of the Academy in its realization are the Wageningen University and Research Centre (WUR) and the Foundation Wageningen International Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Leisure (WICE-SL) (the Netherlands).

The representatives of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands met with the working group of the project - the employees of the Academy belonging to the Expert center on Heritage preservation. In May - June 2009 within the framework of the project they participated in the special training programme on heritage conservation and protection at the Wageningen University.

The Expert center on Heritage preservation was organized at the Academy of Management "TISBI" in June, 2009 for implementation of the project's goals. The center deals with informing and educating of the public on problems in the sphere of preservation and improvement of historical, cultural, natural heritage, as well as designing and realizing a range of educational programs for various categories of population: schoolchildren, students, school and university teachers, adult population with a view to build up public opinion on heritage problems, to increase opportunities for citizens to participate in the decision-making process in the sphere of heritage protection.

The representatives of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands highly estimated the work has been done since the launching of the project, and also the results have been achieved by the implementing organizations, as the effect surpassed expectations. This was also imparted in the general report directed to Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands by the working group of the WUR and WICE-SL (the Netherlands).

The project is carried out at support of state structures and municipal authorities, in particular, the Ministry for Culture of the Tatarstan Republic, the Ministry on Youth, Sports and Tourism Affairs of the Tatarstan Republic, Municipality of the Kazan-city, and regional branch of the Commission for UNESCO of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Tatarstan. As a result, within the visit there was arranged a meeting with the Deputy Head of the Kazan Municipality Lubov' Andreeva. She estimated the value and role of the project in organizing the system of broadcast and popularization of the idea of heritage preservation and also informed the visitors about positive changes in the city and republic for the duration of the project.
