The charity action "Sviyazhsk Island: Our Heritage is
in Our Hands!"
On September 26, 2009 the Expert Center on Heritage at the
Academy of Management "ТISBI" within the framework of the World Day
of Tourism organized the charity action "Sviyazhsk Island: Our Heritage
is in Our Hands!"
The action was aimed at the attraction of the public to the process of preservation
of the heritage in the Republic of Tatarstan and also rendering assistance to
the Monastery of the Virgin Assumption and to the Branch of the Kazan Museum
of Fine Arts on improvement of the Sviyazhsk settlement and the island territory.
More than 50 people participated in the action. Members of the Expert Center
on Heritage at the Academy of Management "ТISBI", the faculty and
volunteer students of the Academy were among the participants.
On the Sviyazhsk Island the participants of the action were met by Alfiya A.
Tutaeva - Director of the State Museum of Fine Arts of the Republic of Tatarstan,
Artem N. Silkin - Head of the Sviyazhsk Town Council, Rustem Sh. Valeev - Head
of the Sviyazhsk Branch of the State Museum of Fine Arts of the Republic of
Tatarstan, Hegumen Siluan (Khokhniashvili) - Superior at the Monastery of the
Virgin Assumption in the town of Sviyazhsk. The representatives of the Republic
authorities and religion thanked all the participants for their work and joined
the action. The participants cleaned the territory of the monastery, the town
of the island and the river bank.
