Participants of the "Pen-International" Project
meet in Chang Chun (China)

On September 10-13, 2009 the participants of the "Pen-International" Project met in Chang Chun (China). At the Forum for the "Pen-International" James De Karo, Coordinator of the "Pen-International" Project , and Dr. Ono, Executive Director of the "Nippon Foundation", and representatives from China, South Korea, the Philippines, Japan and Russia took part in the Forum.

The representatives of the "Pen-Russia" high schools network told about the results, achieved within the framework of the global project on professional training for hard-of-hearing and deaf students.

At the meeting the Academy of Management "TISBI" was represented by its Rector Nella Pruss and the Director of the Institute of Continuous Education Zulfiya Safina.

"TISBI" actively carries out the policy of inclusive education, implying that handicapped students are included in studies with students. Nowadays about 300 handicapped people study at the Academy, among them 33 deaf and hard-of-hearing students.

Within the framework of the Forum "TISBI" presented the report in the work in previous years and its new projects, such as:

  • opening of the Center of the Sign language translation;
  • implementation of network projects of "Pen - Russia" participants (on-line conferences, etc.)

The Academy of Management "TISBI" also introduced to the forum the new joint project with the "Association of Open Communications":

  • cartoon film "The Kid and Carlson" with the sign language translation for deaf and hard-of-hearing children;
  • 10-series cartoon film "Let's be friends" in the sign language for deaf and hard-of-hearing children.

The participants of the Forum pointed out good results of the long-term work of the "Pen-International" Project and made a decision to expand it in future.
