The Faculty was founded on October 1, 2002. The creation of the Faculty reveals the last years tendency to enhance pecialists training in the sphere of computer technologies. Students of the Faculty are majoring in:

• "Computing machinery and computer-based systems software"
• "Applied Information Science (in economics)"

Both specialties provide some common core subjects, such as mathematics, programming, operating systems, data bases, computing machinery, networks and telecommunications. But the first specialty tends to have an engineering bias and is directed to train professional software developers, while the second one trains specialists in information systems support and operation.

Thus the specialty "Computing machinery and computer-based systems software" provides the following special courses:

• Mathematics in computer studies
• Optimization methods
• Computer graphics
• Programming in Assembler
• Object-oriented programming
• Functional and logical programming
• Programming languages theory and translation methods
• Software development technology
• Corporate information systems
• Internet technologies

Besides the subjects dealing with information systems and technologies, the specialty 351400 provides a wide range of economic subjects, such as World Economics, Finance and Credit, Accounting, Statistics, Management and Marketing, Taxation. It will allow graduates to orient in the existent information systems of economic character. It's worth mentioning that modern technical equipment and license software is available for the students:

• Training versions of the most popular economic packages 1С Enterprise 7.7 and BEST,

The faculty has an intention to train students in the above described specialties at the subsidiaries of the Academy and to launch a new specialty "Mathematical Methods in Economics".
